I have been curious about the lack of specialist training when it comes to working with Eating Disorders and Obesity and the lack of training to support therapists to work in this dark and often difficult world of these often deeply distressing illnesses.
Each time I complete my two day ‘Introduction to Eating Disorders & Obesity Masterclass Workshops’, and am often surprised that that many of the competent participants admitted to have been given no formal training in this field and indeed the other therapists who, despite having many years experience felt they had limited knowledge regarding the complexities surrounding this subject.
My two day course running again in London for THE NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EATING DISORDERS aims again to change that, and my vision and passion is to train as many therapists and professionals in this area, in order to reach those desperate families and individuals struggling to find their way. My course will empower people to work with confidence and competence, and to eliminate some of the fear and trepidation that appears to strike anxiety in the hearts of therapists and in the way that it once did mine.
The most surprising feed back I received from my last training was how many of the therapists or their supervises’s had not seen the ‘elephant in the room’, which is the ‘eating disorder’, due to the fact they had not been trained in order to see it. There are millions of people now suffering and it is dramatically increasing and as professionals our job is easier if we have ‘knowledge’, as ‘knowledge is power’, both for ourselves and for our clients.
Please contact me to have a conversation regarding my training which is based on my past and current training by Deanne Jade Principal and Founder of The National Centre of Eating Disorders on 01892-546773/ 07746679301.
NEXT TRAINING DAYS IN LONDON, FRIDAY/SATURDAY 26th & 27th SEPTEMBER 2020, BOOKINGS CAN BE MADE DIRECTLY WITH THE NATIONAL CENTRE FOR EATING DISORDERS ON 0845 838 2040 OR RING ME FOR MORE DETAILS ON 01892 546773 IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE FROM ME IN THE FIRST INSTANCE.
Eating disorders are complex in themselves and perhaps are only uncovered once a patient has sought therapeutic support for other issues. My training is designed to give counsellors and health professionals a toolkit to help support those suffering and tailor approach to their specific needs.
The two-day sessions aim to give those looking to expand their professional knowledge of the complexities of eating disorders an understanding of how to identify disordered eating and support recovery. We will also cover the importance of nutrition/nutritionist involvement in the process of recover with input from Lisa Smith, Nutritionist at Nutriology and Senior Lecturer at Brighton University.
