Supervision

Clinical Supervision is a vital component to successful safe and effective counselling. From trainee counsellors to the most experienced, supervision is necessary for all.

I work in an Integrative way which I choose to do after many years of working in this field, as fundamentally it draws together distinct models of counselling and psychotherapy which are used together in a converging way rather than in separate pieces. I mainly draw from Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy , Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy all of which I have training in and call upon to support when supervising.

My approach provides a supportive environment for supervisees and my aim is to work with each individual to assist in their professional development – identifying their natural talent and helping them to build upon these to strengthen their offering.  I ensure the safety of my supervisees as well as the safety of the clients they are working with.

Supervision is an opportunity to explore all aspects of client work – both the ‘good’ and the more difficult occurrences. I work collaboratively with supervisees to promote healthy growth and encourage open dialogue to ensure a well-rounded and thorough experience.

I generally allocate a 1.5 hour slot per month for each supervision session but this is flexible and can be increased as and where needed.
